National Landcare Program

"The National Landcare Program is a key part of the Australian Government’s commitment to protect and conserve Australia’s water, soil, plants, animals and ecosystems." -

Perth NRM is responsible for the delivery of a number of projects under the Australian Government’s National Landcare Program.

Perth NRM is one of 56 ‘management units’ given preferred supplier status under the National Landcare Program (NLP), ensuring regional priorities can be addressed and offering the community both continuity and assistance in accessing funds and delivering programs.

In addition to project-specific funding, Perth NRM also receives funding to support core services required to deliver current and future projects.

Perth NRM’s current NLP projects include:

Threatened Ecological Communities
“Living Landscapes: Improving the condition of Threatened Ecological Communities in the Swan NRM region”

Threatened Species
“Living Landscapes: Back from the Brink Project”

WA Food Security Plan
“West Australian Sustainable Food Systems Project”

Perth NRM is also engaged in two other federal programs that are delivered through similar mechanisms, managed by the NLP.

Swan Canning River Recovery, funded by the Australian Government’s Environmental Restoration Fund.

‘Enhancing fish habitat and the recreational fisher experience in the Swan-Canning Estuary’, funded by Fisheries Habitat Restoration.
