Alcoa of Australia has been working with Perth NRM and the City of Kwinana on revegetating and improving the Challenger Beach site for over a decade.
A group of 11 employees from Alcoa’s Kwinana Refinery made the most of a sunny winter morning to plant 400 native seedlings in the dunes at Challenger Beach.
Together the team planted a combination of Beach Spinifex, Hairy Spinifex, Tuart Trees and Coast Salt Bush – helping revegetate the dunes for this year’s planting season.
The project, now in its thirteenth year, aims to improve and maintain the ecological viability of the coastal reserve as well as build capacity and understanding of coastal ecological processes in local schools and the community.
We acknowledge and appreciate the support of all our partners, supporters, funding bodies and sponsors.
