The Department of Biodiversity, Conservation and Attractions (DBCA) promotes biodiversity and conservation through sustainable management of WA’s species, ecosystems, lands and natural attractions. The amalgamation of the Botanic Gardens and Parks Authority, Rottnest Island Authority, Zoological Parks Authority, and Parks and Wildlife Service meant that this new department incorporated a number of individual agencies that we had a history of engaging with.
The main formal relationship that we have with DBCA is the SALP program, which provides funding for community groups to undertake on-ground work and is co-funded by Alcoa. SALP has been supporting this work for over twenty years.
DBCA also funds Perth NRM to administer the Sediment Taskforce. On the other side of the coin, DBCA provide services to us that are funded through RLP.
We also work with DBCA in maintaining and supporting the network of sub-region groups within the Swan Region.
