Minister to officially launch RegenWA at Dowerin

“More than a mere alternative strategy, regenerative agriculture represents a fundamental shift in our culture’s relationship with nature.” Charles Eisenstein, author.

The Regenerative Farmers’ Network “RegenWA” will be officially launched by the Minister for Regional Development; Agriculture and Food, Hon. Alannah MacTiernan at the 2018 Dowerin Field Days.

RegenWA is a peer-to-peer support, learning and sharing network for all farmers and land managers on the journey of identifying and adopting leading sustainability practices, including regenerative land management.  It identifies and supports the validation and adoption of leading on-farm sustainability through demonstration of new best management practices and aims to promote participation from the wider community by encouraging learning and sharing of information between agricultural sectors.

RegenWA is supported by the seven regional NRM (Natural Resource Management) groups in WA, led by Perth NRM.  The concept arose out of Perth NRM’s “Food Future” agenda.

“RegenWA is not only to support our members, it provides the opportunity for members to support each other through a peer-to-peer learning network that will help build resilient farming systems and communities”, explains Justin Wolfgang, RegenWA’s Network Coordinator

“Just like the environment beneath our feet a diverse community is a healthy community, and we encourage all food producers to join us regardless of what type, size, location, interest, and knowledge level of biological farming.”

The official launch will take place at 12.00pm on Wednesday 29th August at Perth NRM’s stand in the Bankwest Pavilion. World renowned West Australian farmer and the interim Chair of the RegenWA Steering Committee, Di Haggerty will introduce Minister MacTiernan. Other members of the steering committee and the network will be in attendance to take questions.

Visitors will have the opportunity to sign up to RegenWA and meet and talk with farmers from the network about advances in land management practices. On display will be case studies of several farming enterprises that already demonstrate innovation in practices that regenerate our landscape.
