As part of the NAIDOC week celebrations Perth NRM coordinated a Six Season Walk at Mary Carroll for the City of Gosnells.
Elder Neville Collard lead family groups for a walk around the wetland that is home to many birds, reptiles including turtles and wonderful wetland flora. Participants learned about the season of Makuru and the importance of the different plants and animals to the Noongar People.
Spanning June and July, Makuru was traditionally the time of year to migrate inland. Learn more about the season of Makuru and the traditional means of surviving it here.
