Learn essential advocacy skills in this interactive and practical workshop facilitated by green activist Lynn MacLaren. Lynn is a well-known conservation and human rights advocate with decades of campaign experience. She volunteers in local bushland ‘Friends’ groups and has convened the Albany Community Environment Centre Inc, served on several boards including the Urban Bushland Council WA Inc.

Lynn has first-hand knowledge of government at both local and State level, first as a Greens member of the WA State parliament for two terms, and now as an elected City of Albany Councillor. Lynn is also a skilled trainer and consultant who has worked with many community groups to build capacity and strategy.

This workshop will be interactive and practical.

You will explore:

  • The meaning of ‘advocacy’… what, when, how? (We already know ‘Why’!)
  • Tried and true techniques and strategies
  • Making change at every level – from community to government
  • Campaign case studies – lessons, top tips, do’s and don’ts…

Share your ideas and dilemmas with other Friends groups. Gain strategic skills and knowledge to help plan any campaign.
