WHAT IS GRID?
GRID stands for Geographic and Reporting Information Database. It is an easy-to-use, online GIS for natural resource management organisations and groups.
What can it do?
GRID runs in a web browser, and allows you to add and edit spatial data, view and enquire about spatial data, and produce hardcopy maps and other reports. It is an ideal tool to use on a day to day basis to quickly record the on-ground activities undertaken during the day.
For community groups the system provides a means for them to report on work being done on their projects. GRID allows for visual inspection of on-ground works, and provides mechanisms for reporting. This reporting can be amended to fit your particular reporting requirements including project inputs, monitoring outcomes and summarising project results.
HOW CAN I USE GRID?
Perth NRM is supporting the volunteer and not-for profit community groups they work with by providing access to their GRID system to help those groups with data collection and reporting. This access will be available at no cost.
How do I get started?
You can contact us to find out more information about GRID and what you can use it for. If it is the right tool for your group, we will register your information and provide you with access to the system.
Support and Training
GRID has a comprehensive User Guide available on line. If you have used any mapping system before, you will find your way around GRID very easily.
If you are new to mapping or would like a more comprehensive introduction, we can arrange training.
Our GRID system is supported by Gaia Resources (www.gaiaresources.com.au) and they are available to provide telephone and email support to users.
