Perth NRM’s environment team supports action that improves the integrity of the Swan and Canning River systems.
A wetland is land that is covered or saturated with water, for part of the year or permanently. Some wetlands are linked to the groundwater with their depth rising or falling to reflect the aquifer levels.
Once thought to be too difficult to remove from our river systems, the South East Regional Centre for Urban Landcare (SERCUL) has been eradicating hydroctyle in the Canning River as part of the Swan Canning River Recovery Stage 3.
