Jason Pitman wins Environment and Sustainability Award

27th May, 2019

Perth NRM is delighted that the Seven News Young Achiever Awards has recognised the work of Jason Pitman (Environment Team, Strategy Coordinator) with the Scott Print Environment and Sustainability Award.

“This award was incredibly meaningful for me, and further encourages my efforts to support our communities in delivering such fantastic work in caring for our environment,” Mr Pitman said.

Mr Pitman said the awards program supports young leaders across the community and that it was a privilege to be involved.

“These awards raise the public profile of people working for social inclusivity, equitable healthcare, entrepreneurship, and environmental sustainability,” he said.

“This award reminds me of all the amazing work being achieved by community groups who do not readily take credit for the amazing work they do.

“I would like this moment to commend all volunteers and environmental groups for the dedication and hard work it takes in working towards an environmentally sustainable future. I look forward to celebrating future nominees, semi-finalists, and finalists for this award category as many young people undertake extraordinary efforts on behalf of the environment and our community.”

As part of the Perth NRM, Mr Pitman has been instrumental in projects such as the Swan Canning River Recovery project and has delivered programs to over 1200 students to improve awareness and participation in biodiversity conservation.
