We are very excited to be hosting World Soil Day 2020 at Muresk Institute.

World Soil Day (WSD) is held annually on December 5 as a means to focus attention on the importance of healthy soil and to advocate for the sustainable management of soil resources.

REGISTRATIONS ARE NOW OPEN!

This year’s theme is ‘Keep soil alive, protect soil biodiversity‘ and we will be hearing from numerous West Australian farmers about what they are doing on farm to improve their soil biodiversity and celebrate the great work our farmers are doing to look after their soils and increase biodiversity.

Features of the day include:
  • Hearing from Farmers and their on-farm practices to increase their soil biodiversity
  • Opportunity to see your own soil biology under the microscope
  • Hearing from the recently appointed Soils Commissioner
  • Paddock walks to see the trials Steve has been conducting
  • Networking with a diverse range of farmers from across the state
  • Family orientated, so bring the kids for a whole family day out
  • Enjoy a hearty Picnic in the Paddock lunch prepared by CWA

Speakers for the day will include farmers from a range of industries. We will be hearing from:

Cecilia McConnell – WA Soil and Land Conservation Council Commissioner
Steve Wainewright – Muresk Farm Manager
Brendon Savage – broadacre farmer in Kulin
Dean Ryan – a farmer in Manjimup with Angus Cattle, Spud’s, Avocado’s, and more
Blythe Calnan – Runnymede Farm in Uduc
Mitchell East – Willara Gold in Manjimup
UWA Future Farm in Pingelly
Chris Gazey – Portfolio Manager, Soil Science & Crop Nutrition, DPIRD
Sue Ogilvy – Natural Capital Practitioner from Integrated Solutions

The event will focus on practical ways to improve soil biodiversity in our Western Australian agricultural lands.

We hope you can make it to this celebratory event to share and learn.
