Join Gilbert’s Potoroo Action Group and DBCA Research Associate Dr Tony Friend at Moerlina School, 16 Brockway Rd, Mt Claremont on October 23rd, 2021 2:30-3:45 pm for the Perth launch of the beautiful children’s book “One Potoroo: A Story of Survival” by Penny Jaye, recently published by CSIRO Publishing. The book is for younger children and is delightfully illustrated by Bridgetown artist Alicia Rogerson. It tells the story of Gilbert’s Potoroo, the world’s rarest marsupial, and was inspired by the real life events surrounding the rescue of a potoroo after the catastrophic 2015 bushfire at Two Peoples Bay.

The event will include a reading of the book by GPAG Chair, Dr Alan Needham, followed by an informal discussion with Dr Tony Friend about his personal experience of the 2015 fire at Two Peoples Bay and its aftermath, including the rescue of surviving potoroos. We’ll also have a colouring competition & a “Find the Potoroos” picture search activity for the kids plus light refreshments for afternoon tea.

Books will be available for purchase at the event (EFTPOS available) with a substantial percentage of the purchase price going to GPAG to help save Gilbert’s Potoroo.

The event is free but bookings are essential for venue capacity and catering purposes.
