Businesses clean up the coastline at Kwinana Beach

1st April, 2025

Kwinana industry inspired to take part in a Business Beach Clean Up to create a cleaner coastline.

Local businesses rolled up their sleeves to fill bags with litter along Kwinana Beach and around Wells Park on Tuesday 11th March. Mayor Peter Feasey said the Business Beach Clean Up helped create a cleaner, healthier environment along the City’s beautiful coast.

“This inaugural clean up strengthened community bonds, demonstrated business commitment to the environment, and allowed for networking all while getting behind a great cause on the 35th Clean Up Australia Day,” Mayor Feasey said.

Proudly delivered by Perth NRM’s Coastal and Marine program, in partnership with the City of Kwinana and the Kwinana Industries Council, volunteers were pleased to contribute to the important cause of protecting our environment and ensuring our coastline remains a beautiful place for people to visit, enjoy and recreate, he said.

Olman Walley welcomed participants to Country while sharing cultural knowledge of the area through storytelling.

Perth NRM Coastal and Marine Program Manager Jennifer Harrison said Perth NRM was proud to take part in the registered business clean up.

“By removing marine debris from the beach and coastal parklands, we can prevent litter from entering the ocean and harming marine life,” Mrs Harrison said.

Rubbish collected from the Business Beach Clean Up was taken to the Kwinana Energy Recovery Facility for processing.

Kwinana Industries Council CEO David Harrison said the event was another way local industry supported the community and protected the environment.

“We are fortunate to live and work in one of the most amazing natural environments,” Mr Harrison said. “For generations, local industry has operated alongside the community and made protecting the environment a priority. “This remains a core part of our mission and we are delighted to give back to our community,” he said.
