Community Grants Opening

18th January, 2021

The Federal Government will open its Stronger Communities Programme grants process on Jan 19, 2021, providing up to $20,000 to encourage and support participation in local projects and contribute to viable communities.

As with the Communities Environment Program (2019), the Stronger Communities Programme grants are only available through consultation, invitation and approval from your local Federal MP.

Each electorate has been allocated up to $150,000 and some of the suggested activities include the development or upgrade of streetscapes, community gardens, park furniture or community assets.

Eligible organisations must meet the following criteria:

  • Have an Australian Business Number (ABN).
  • Be an incorporated not for profit organisation; or
  • Be an incorporated trustee on behalf of a trust with responsibility for a community asset or property; or
  • Be a local governing body as defined by the Local Government (Financial Assistance) Act 1995.

However, if your organisation does not meet this criteria – particularly the incorporated not for profit status – it is possible to have an eligible organisation sponsor the project on your behalf.

If your organisation has a great idea on how to revitalise your community and get people involved in what you’re doing, contact your federal member and see if they’re interested in funding it.

If you need a letter of support or even a project sponsor, let us know.

Visit the Business.gov.au website for grant objectives, eligibility guidelines, documentation and application/reporting examples.
