29th January, 2019

Perth is renowned for its coastal lifestyle with residents enjoying many social,
environmental, cultural and economic benefits from the natural environment.

Community leaders, local and state government staff, researchers and environmental groups conserving and managing the Swan Region’s coastal and marine values are
encouraged to attend Perth NRM’s Coastal Forum to hear the latest research and be inspired by community programs.

Perth is renowned for its coastal lifestyle with residents enjoying many social,
environmental, cultural and economic benefits from the natural environment.  With an expected population growth of around 20% over the next 15 years, community,
government and NGOs need to collaborate to ensure effective management and
mitigation of pressures on the coastal and marine environment.

Speakers from a range of disciplines will present on the management of the coastal and marine waters of the Perth Region and participants will be encouraged to share their
experiences and identify knowledge and skill needs.

Learn about current research being undertaken at UWA into coastal dynamics and the programs to manage erosion and seagrass regeneration.  Case studies from Tangaroa Blue will highlight the role of community engagement in citizen science and show how it can drive behaviour change. Cockburn City Council will give practical examples of
planning and implementation of on-ground programs.
