proAlliance staff cleaning the beach at Kwinana

31st January, 2017

While summer brings holidays and lazy days at the beach the influx of beach users also see increased litter levels along our beaches and in adjacent car parks.

Staff from the proAlliance, an alliance between the Water Corporation and Suez who own and operate the Perth Seawater Desalination Plant at Kwinana, have adopted their local beach and undertake regular beach clean up events in association with Perth NRM’s Coastal and Marine Program.

Data on the type of rubbish collected from the clean up event is sent to Tangaroa Blue under the Australian Marine Debris Initiative and is compiled in the annual litter report.

The clean up event was considered a success as it provides an opportunity for staff to participate in team based events that improve the amenity of local beaches and staff cohesion.
