KAYA nidja Noongar Boodja  – Hello! Welcome to Noongar Country

The trail signage that you will follow on your journey depicts the Waugal, the sacred Aboriginal dreamtime serpent.  As you follow the Bibbulmun Track, you will be walking through Noongar Boodja – the Country of the Aboriginal people of the south-west of Western Australia. Bibbulmun is one of the 14 Noongar languages spoken within this Country, which is rich in     culture, lore, and a deep respect for the land.

In Noongar Country you will discover an abundance of unique plants and animals found nowhere else in the world.    Enjoy the ever changing unspoiled bushland and learn how the plants and wildlife were used by the Noongar people for food, shelter, and medicine.  Learn how Noongar lore survives in the culture and respect for the land (boodja).

Here, at the start of your journey, you stand in Kalamunda. Press play and listen to the Noongar story of how Kalamunda got its name.
