Major General the Hon. Michael Jeffery discusses the RFN and the soils for life program

20th February, 2018

Recently Perth NRM met with Major General the Honorable Michael Jeffery to discuss the Regenerative Farmers Network (RFN) aims and objectives, and the synergies with the Soils for Life case studies project.

We were very excited to hear firsthand the solutions strategy for reparations to our soils, our environment, and our community’s health and wellbeing. In the coming months we will work with the Soils for Life project to develop an implementation plan across the regional NRM jurisdictions relative to the case study locations. Another great example to show our growing community that willing collaboration results in actions on the ground, and the work we do together in WA will help model similar approaches for other states and territories to follow.

“I was delighted to discuss the concept and intentions of the West Australian Regenerative Farmers Network.  The outcomes you are seeking to achieve can only be helpful to all farmers in all NRMs, but also support those of Soils for Life which I chair.  Therefore, I encourage your members to become aware of what we seek to achieve by checking our website at www.soilsforlife.org.au
After all, regenerative landscape management seeks to restore landscape function and deliver sustainable production, an improved natural resource base, healthy nutrient cycling, increased biodiversity and enhanced resilience. This is where our future lies.”
